Abstract

Experimental high energy physics is relatively new in Mexico, it is no more than 20 years old. The group of Experimental High Energy Physics of the Instituto de Física de la Universidad de Guanajuato (IFUG) (Now División de Ciencias e Ingenierías, Campus León) is pioneer in this area of physics in México. This group started activities in 1989, approximately, with the collaboration Brookhaven National Laboratory BNL e766. And continue the collaboration with the experiment Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory (FNAL e690), and with FNAL e871 and at this time with the experiment FNAL e938, MINERvA (Main INjectorExpeRiment for v -A) collaboration. Inside the collaborations BNL e766, FNAL e690, and FNAL e871, many Ph.D, MSc. and BSc students graduated. The group from the Universidad de Guanajuato contributed basically with data analysis done al IFUG or at FERMILAB. In this essay we describe, briefly, the history of experimental high energy physics groupin their first 20 years, and advance the prospective for its next twenty years inside the MINERvA project.
